REVA, the only man­ufacturer of elec­tric cars in the country, has launched a unique Rental scheme for corporates and individuals who are look­ing for an affordable rental op­tion that is zero in polluting.

In the wake of India's growing pollution levels, soaring temperatures and congested by ­lanes, the fully automatic REVA comes handy in city mobility. Studies show that on an average more than 90 per cent of the In­dian population drives at 30-40 km/hr and an average distance of less than 50 kms a day REVA with a running cost of 40 paise/km, top speed of 65 Kms / hr and a range of 80 kms on full charge suits this need perfectly.

Rental charges of REVA cars vary from Rs 350 to Rs. 450 per day (depending on the model), which is about 60% cheaper than other car rental options. Options include daily, weekly as well as monthly rentals for indi­viduals and annual lease op­tions for corporates.

According to Mr Chetan Maini, Managing Director REVA, "With Banga­lore becoming an important business hub, the number of visitors to the city has in­creased, thus creating a need for affordable and sustainable city mobility. REVA's rental scheme addresses this growing demand with durations varying from one day to one year. "The company claims that its rent-a ­car scheme has attracted tremendous response from cor­porates who tike to hire it for their employees, in lieu of taxis which run high on petrol bills. REVA is currently providing this service to around 10 corpo­rates. Some corporates are also interested in leasing it for a pe­riod of 1 year to 3 years.

Fitted with dent proof and rust proof panels made of ABS plastic, steel frames to ensure shock absorption upon impact and remote control heating and air-conditioning to suit all weather conditions, REVA is easy to maneuver in city traffic with the smallest turning ra­dius of 3.5 metres and fully au­tomatic transmissions.
