Eco-friendly car REVA which was launched by Shiv Samarth Motoriders, Dona Paula on February 17 is a zero emission, zero pollution and an environmentally safe car.

The running cost for REVA is only 25 paisa per km compared to a petrol car at Rs 2.5 per km. At a cost of Rs 2.65 lakh on road, the financial major ICICI has tied up with REVA to provide financing upto Rs 2 lakh.

The other features of the car include a steel space frame and side impact beams that cocoons the passenger, dent proof ABS body panels, a frontal crush zone and energy absorbing bumpers.

Self-employed people and professionals who file their tax returns are entitles to 100% depreciation in the first year itself as against the 20% deduction on a conventional car.

First conceived in 1995, REVA has evolved significantly into its present form.

After investing Rs 80 crores in Joint Venture with Amerigon Electric Vehicle Technology Inc. of California, USA, the REVA car has been put through 10,00,000 km of tests and is tested for safety, reliability and road worthiness to withstand the most trying conditions before it reaches its customers.

REVA is specially designed for the city roads.

The batteries for the car are manufactured by Tudor India Ltd. Who have also launched Prestolite brand.
