Electric Car Launched in State Date : February

Parrikar, today inaugurated the show room of REVA at Dona Paula.
The car has been launched in the state by Shiv
Samarth Motoriders and the REVA Electric Car Company, a joint venture
of Maini Group and Amerigon Electric Vehicle Technology Inc of California,
USA.
Mr. Ashok Khaunte of Shiv Samarth said that the
state government has reduced sales tax on car from 12.6 per cent
to 4-2 percent, adding that request for reduction in registration
fee has also been taken up with the state authorities.
The car has been put through a test of 10,00,0000
km and has been tested for safety, reliability and road worthiness.
REVA has been specially designed for the city roads.
The zero emission, zero pollution, 100 per cent
environmental friendly REVA is very cost effective, said the chairman
of REVA Electric Car Company, Mr. S. K. Maini. The running cost
of car is only 25 paise per km, he added, while addressing a press
conference yesterday.

The ex-showroom cost of the car is Rs. 2.65 lakh
and financial major ICICI has tied up with REVA to provide financing
upto Rs 2 lakh. Mr. Maini also said that the car has complete protection
for the riders with unique safety measures and that it comes in
a range of colours.
The features of the car include a special steel
space frame and side impact beams that cocoons the passengers, dent
proof ABS body panels, a frontal crush zone and energy absorbing
bumpers.Key propriety technologies of the REVA include its steel
space frame and energy management system that are managed by, two
computers. The car has no engine noise, no gears offers a hassle
free experience.
REVA can accommodate two adult and two children
quite comfortably. On a full charge the car runs upto 80 km and
its batteries numbering eight can be charged fully in 7 hrs and
the process would consume only 9 units, said Mr. Maini, Mr. Somnath
Zuwarkar, legislator from Talelgao, Mr. S. K. Maini and Ms REVA
Maini were present during the inaugural ceremony.
