REVA plans to enter 19 cities

REVA Electric Car Company (RECC) plans to make entry into 19 cities in the country by end of March 2003, according to its managing director Chetan Maini.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday after showcasing REVA Zephyr, India's first convertible electric car, Maini said: "Delivery of this new model is expected to commence from next September, We planned a series of road shows across the country to promote our products. We have also plans to export our cars to US, UK and other countries. Recently we have tied up with a UK company as part of our export strategy."
He said that there are more than 300 REVA cars on roads in cities like Bangalore, Goa, Chennai, New Delhi etc. "We are expecting to sell 200-500 cars this year. At present we are manufacturing 50 cars per month and aim to increase it to 150 by next March. Our manufacturing plant has the capacity to make 6,000 cars per year, "he said.
RECC also announced the launch of the new version of the REVA Classe with remote controlled air-conditioning. REVA Classe is priced at Rs. 2,99,500, while the REVA Zephyr costs Rs.3,75,000.
