The country's first and only electric car REVA is all set to burn rubber of foreign roads. REVA Electric Car Company (RECC), the maker of this two-door hatchback, have inked deals with distributors in Japan, the UK, Malta and Malaysia to market the car in these countries under the REVA Brand.
The car would first hit the UK market by December this year and would subsequently be
launched across Europe, RECC Managing director Chetan Maini said. "This would be followed by launches in Japan, Malta and Malaysia by 2003-end".

In addition, the firm is also set to roll out the car across five new markets in India over the next one year. "We have already appointed dealers for these cities and the roll out is expected to happen over the next 12 months in a phased manner," Maini said.
"Besides we are also working towards upgrading the car, giving it some facial changes. The first of the new upgrades, which will be an air-conditioned model, will be launched by this month end, " he added. The firm, he said, has received firm orders from a number of countries and is planning to make the production and export hub for electric cars. "Our agreement with Going Green would cover the UK and Europe… Our target is to capture about one per cent of the car market in UK in the first year itself."
