Will India's electric car REVA notch up more sales
through exports than in the local market?
Chetan Maini, MD, REVA Electric Car Company, told
The Times of India that the company has received enquiries from
over 30 countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific and hopes to sign
up with a least two in a few months.
And as expected, price is the winning factor. While
abroad, these cars are priced between $13,000-15,000, REVA will
sport a price tag of $7,000, making it the cheapest electric car
in the world.

Going by the response so far, Maini expects first
year sales to have up to 50 percent contribution from exports. Professor
Chan, president, World Electric Vehicle Association, who was in
Bangalore to attend a function commemorating the formal delivery
of REVA cars on Saturday, said a Chinese delegation from the Beijing
Enterprises Holding Ltd will visit Bangalore on July 10 to assess
investment opportunities in infrastructure, food processing and
other sectors and will also look at marketing the REVA in China.
